Hi GoTabbers!
Most operators will tell you there’s never a good time to change systems. Busy season is too busy, and the slow season is when you finally have time to think about it, right up until the busy season comes back around.
In this issue, we’re featuring Lost Apostle Brewing, a brewpub on the shore of Lake Superior that decided not to wait. They switched to GoTab in the middle of peak season, with our team on site for training.
We’re also spotlighting Opsi Restaurant Intelligence, which puts your GoTab sales data to work in the back office, and the GoTab Managed Network, so the network under your POS is one less thing to worry about heading into the holidays. Dig in!

Lost Apostle Brewing sits on the shore of Lake Superior in Washburn, Wisconsin, on the Bayfield Peninsula. Founder Badger Colish spent three years building it out, and today it’s a brewpub with a bar and counter, an upstairs bar with lake views, and an outdoor patio with a stage and a fire pit.
Colish had spent years integrating brewery equipment, so the brewhouse was familiar ground. The front of the house was another story. Within months of opening, he knew the point-of-sale system had to go. “The first system we started with was a nightmare. It was clunky, not user-friendly and not at all intuitive. It felt like it had just been added on to for 20 years without ever really adapting or changing,” Colish said.
Friends at Pryes Brewing in Minneapolis pointed him to GoTab, and he chose not to wait for the slow months to make the move. Lost Apostle went live in mid-July, right in the middle of the tourist rush, and our team went to Washburn for an in-person handoff and staff training. “That’s something other companies are reluctant to do, and GoTab was completely willing,” Colish said.
Today, two iPad stations anchor service, a downstairs counter takes walk-up orders, patio tables order by QR code, and takeout comes in online. Every ticket lands on the same kitchen display, and staff scheduling and tips run through 7shifts and TipHaus, both connected to GoTab. Then there were the reports. “After we made the switch, I looked at the reports and thought, ‘Wow, no comps today.’ And guess what? The drawer balances.”

opsi by GoTab just launched Opsi Restaurant Intelligence, the biggest update to the platform since GoTab acquired opsi in March 2025. If you run your front of house on GoTab, this one is about everything that happens after the guest pays. opsi connects with GoTab and puts your sales history to work in the back office.
“Restaurant teams spend too much of their day moving information between systems and repeating work that should already be done,” said opsi co-founder James Passafaro, now GoTab’s VP of Restaurant Strategy & Operations.
Operators already using opsi report about $5,000 in vendor overcharges caught at Pau Hana and Lake & Irving, 80% less time on manual data work at Twisted Pin, and 40% less prep time at Spoon and Stable.

A network issue may not be a POS problem, but it still lands on your POS experience, so it makes sense to call your POS provider when it happens. The GoTab Managed Network makes that call count: we install, secure, and monitor the network under your POS, so one team owns the fix.
Heading into the holidays, pair it with OPServer, available at the Sync plan level, for two layers of protection when the internet drops.
Lost Apostle didn’t wait for a quiet month to fix what wasn’t working, and you don’t have to either. Whether it’s a new POS, a back office that finally talks to the front, or a more reliable network, our team is here to help.
Thank you for being part of the GoTab community.
