What are GoTab’s alcohol ordering policies for bars?

In compliance with national, state, and local liquor laws, servers will not serve alcohol to underage guests. If ordering alcoholic beverages, guests should be prepared to show their server a valid ID. Underage members are still welcome to place orders for food or non-alcoholic beverages through GoTab!

What is Insufficient Funds Protection and how does it help bars save money?

Insufficient Funds Protection helps operators mitigate the risk of significant losses associated with walk outs and insufficient funds. When a guest initiates an order with a credit card, GoTab performs an automatic authorization, locking the funds equivalent to the outstanding balance. Each time the guest places a new order, GoTab repeats the authorization, ensuring that the card has sufficient funds for the new order.

What happens if a patron forgets to pay before leaving?

GoTab requires that everyone who opens a tab with a credit card when placing their order. If a guest leaves a tab open, the tab will automatically be closed when the venue closes. Therefore, guests cannot accidentally leave without closing their tab!

How do bar guests receive their order?

If guests are ordering through a server or bartender on the GoTab POS there is no change. The main difference with GoTab is when members order via a QR code on their table. In that scenario, the server will know which location the order was placed from and can check the guest’s identification for age verification and deliver the drink to the guest. Depending on the bar setup, guests can also be notified via text that their drink is ready with directions to the pickup location.

How do bar guests tip servers?

With GoTab, bars can configure a default tip that can be automatically applied to each order. Guests can also adjust the tip percentage on the payment information screen, however, some venues may choose to require a minimum tip (or service fee).

What is Easy Tab and how does it help bars sell more of their beverage menu?

Easy Tab is the tab that travels with the guest. Guests open a tab with a swipe or dip of their card with a bartender or server. GoTab then sends a link to the tab to the guest’s mobile number. Guests maintain control of their credit card and can reorder and pay using the same tab on their mobile device. Bar operators pay lower transaction fees because the guest pays once when they close their tab, instead of each time they order a drink.
