Hi GoTabbers!
When the economy is unpredictable, growth can feel like something to put off until the timing is better. But there’s never really a bad time to think about what’s next — especially when growth is intentional, efficient and built on a strong foundation.
In this issue, we’re featuring Scott Free Brewing, a Nebraska taproom that stayed lean, stayed profitable and is now pairing Beer30 Lite with GoTab to prepare for its next stage.
We’re also spotlighting the GoTab + Beer30 integration behind that story, plus a new way to bring guest feedback and online reviews together with Fishbowl by GoTab.
Here’s to scaling smartly, whatever the economy brings.

When Nebraska history teacher Kristian Schank and his wife, Crystal, opened Scott Free Brewing Company in December 2024, they went lean on purpose — a 36-seat taproom, 10 taps, and a 3.5-barrel brewing system, avoiding the heavy real estate and equipment costs that can weigh down a young brewery.
It’s worked. Scott Free has grown steadily through a difficult stretch for the U.S. craft beer industry while staying financially disciplined. “Every day, we’re making more than we’re spending,” Schank said. “That’s a win. I can’t say that about every brewery I’ve talked to in the last year and a half.”
As production increased — Scott Free has added fermenters, bright tanks, and most recently a seven-barrel fermenter — tracking it all on spreadsheets got harder. This summer, Schank adopted Beer30 Lite, the streamlined, lower-cost tier of Beer30, to track tanks, transfers, and production without paying for more than he needed. “At $30 a month, it beats the pants off me trying to figure out spreadsheets,” he said. “It does what I need it to, and that’s what matters.”
Now Schank is bringing GoTab on as Scott Free’s point-of-sale platform too — looking for an easier interface for his staff, simpler remote management when he’s away from the brewery, and clearer visibility into processing costs, as he plans a larger, beer-garden-style second location down the road.

Beer30, brewery management software from The 5th Ingredient, is the platform behind Scott Free’s story above. GoTab’s integration with Beer30 connects front-of-house sales with back-of-house production and inventory, so breweries get one accurate picture instead of reconciling two. Sales and inventory data sync automatically between the platforms, cutting manual reconciliation and the errors that come with it.
Breweries that need less can start with Beer30 Lite — a right-sized, lower-cost entry point with the same GoTab integration — and every Beer30 and Beer30 Lite customer gets free access to the Beer30 Marketplace for discounts on grain, hops, equipment, and other brewery essentials.

Fishbowl by GoTab has added Guest Feedback & Reviews to its Guest Relationship Management platform, bringing direct guest feedback together with online reviews from Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, and OpenTable in one place. Instead of checking each channel separately, teams can see, manage, and act on everything guests are saying — alongside the guest data and marketing tools they already use in Fishbowl.
“You cannot improve what you can’t measure. With guest feedback, sentiment analysis, and loyalty, you can continuously improve your operations and strengthen your connection to your most valuable guests,” said Ahmad Abualsamid, CTO of Fishbowl.
Whether you’re running as lean as Scott Free or scaling across dozens of locations, the throughline is the same: less time reconciling systems, more time with your guests.
We also want to say thanks to everyone who stopped by to see us this week at the Virginia Brewers Conference in Richmond — always great to talk shop with operators in person.
Thank you for being part of the GoTab community.
