Category Visionaries is dedicated to exploring exciting visions for the future from the founders who are on the front lines building it. In each episode, they speak with a visionary founder who’s building a new category or reimagining an existing one. Past conversations have included leaders from countless startups and early stage companies as well as venture capital firms.
In their recent interview Tim shares his background, starting seven companies, lessons learned from those that failed, and working with his wife of 25 years. They also discuss how restaurant technology is broken and how GoTab is helping restaurants improve their commerce and logistics operations. They also discuss how differences in restaurant customer experience in the US and Europe are due to tech infrastructure.
On the personal side, Tim talks about his interest in philosophy and anthropology as well as the latest book he’s reading: The Four Steps to the Epiphany which is credited with launching the Lean Startup approach to new ventures. It was the first book to offer that startups are not smaller versions of large companies and that new ventures are different from existing ones.
