Choosing the Right Location for Your Bar

Selecting the perfect location for your bar is a complex and pivotal decision that can significantly influence its success or failure. The process involves more than simply finding a visually appealing space; it requires a comprehensive analysis of various factors to ensure your establishment thrives. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve into the critical considerations that should be at the forefront of your decision-making process when choosing the ideal location for your bar. With these insights, you'll be well-prepared to make an informed choice that sets your bar on the path to prosperity.

Demographics-

Understanding the demographic makeup of the area is vital for tailoring your bar to your target audience. Consider factors like median income to gauge the spending power of potential customers. Knowing the number of co-tenants in the vicinity can help you estimate the population density and potential customer base. Additionally, consider the level of education in the area, as this can influence the type of clientele you attract. An area with a higher percentage of college graduates might be more inclined towards craft cocktails and artisanal beers, while a neighborhood with a younger crowd could favor sports bars or live music venues.

Foot Traffic-The Lifeblood of Your Business

Foot traffic isn't just about the number of people passing by; it's about understanding their behavior. Analyze the 1-5 mile population to assess your bar's reach and potential customer pool. But don't forget to delve into daytime population figures as well. For example, an area with a high daytime population due to offices, universities, or tourist attractions can be lucrative for lunchtime and happy hour business. Conversely, consider how the area changes during the evenings and weekends, as this will be prime time for your bar. By studying these patterns, you can better tailor your offerings and operating hours to match when and where customers are most likely to visit.

Competition Analysis- Know Your Rivals Inside Out

Your competition isn't just a list of neighboring bars; it's a source of valuable insights. Conduct a deep dive into your competitors, not just to identify potential threats but also to discover opportunities. What unique aspects or offerings do your competitors have, and how can you differentiate yourself? Is there a gap in the market that you can fill? By understanding your rivals inside out, you can strategically position your bar to offer something truly distinctive, whether it's a unique theme, innovative cocktails, or exceptional customer service.

Accessibility and Parking- Convenience Matters

While assessing accessibility, consider the modes of transportation that your patrons are likely to use. If it's a pedestrian-heavy area, ensure that your bar is easily spotted and accessible by foot. If you're in a car-centric location, having ample parking or partnerships with nearby parking facilities can be a significant advantage. Accessibility isn't just about getting to your bar; it's also about ensuring that the entrance is welcoming and visible. Lighting, signage, and the overall ambiance should encourage potential customers to step inside.

Future Development- Predicting Growth and Trends

Investigate the potential for future development in your chosen location. An area undergoing revitalization may become a hot spot in a few years, making your bar a trendsetter in the neighborhood. By keeping an eye on emerging trends and upcoming developments, you can position your bar as an innovative and forward-thinking establishment that continually attracts new customers.

Selecting the right location for your bar is a multifaceted process that requires careful consideration of several critical factors. By thoroughly examining demographics, foot traffic, competition, accessibility, regulations, future development, and costs, you can make an informed decision that aligns with your business objectives. With the right location, your bar can become a thriving hub for patrons seeking unforgettable experiences, delectable drinks, and lasting memories. Ultimately, the perfect location sets the stage for the success of your bar and ensures its lasting impact in the local hospitality scene.

Situated “in the heart of it all, yet tranquil enough to make you feel away from it all too,” The Limelight Hotel Snowmass offers 99 hotel rooms and 11 residences, as well as footsteps-to-gondola access in winter and summer — right in the middle of Snowmass Base Village.

The Situation

Especially over the last few years, the Limelight Hotels IT team had witnessed a significant shift to contactless technology in the hospitality industry. After evaluating friction points in the guest journey, aligning with modern technology platforms in their restaurant was determined to be an effective way to offer elevated contactless dining experiences to their guests while also evolving their technology platforms to continue to support long-term company goals. Limelight Hotel partnered with GoTab to provide an enhanced on-demand dining experience on par with the brand’s reputation for exceptional guest service.

The Solution

Reducing Staff Touch Points Without Sacrificing Guest Experience

Guests are now able to begin a tab from their room or the property’s restaurant by scanning a QR code, texting a link to friends or family members on the ski slope to add in their orders, then meeting up together at the patio or lodge to enjoy their meal and après ski festivities without interruption. By streamlining tasks like inputting orders and processing payments, this eliminates friction for hotel staff and allows them to focus on delivering renowned guest service for a memorable experience. Since partnering with GoTab, Limelight Snowmass has consistently seen higher check averages and sales.

“We found the Point of Sale platforms we were looking at offered the guest and staff limited opportunities to further reduce touch points or improve the traditional restaurant experience. The GoTab platform enabled the guest to take an active role over the flow of their experience while simultaneously reducing touch points and further streamlining restaurant operations.”Nick Giglio, Manager of Hotel IT Operations, The Little Nell Hotel Group

According to the Limelight Hotels team, some of the other platforms that were evaluated were either missing some of the pieces they were looking for, had weak customer support models, or had little willingness to develop integrations to existing hotel platforms already in place. To that end, GoTab integrated with cloud-based platform, Infor. Together, GoTab and Infor are providing dynamic solutions to support central, efficient service across hotel amenities and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

“Previously, guests would call down to the restaurant to begin an order from their room or while they were out enjoying the ski slopes. Using GoTab, guests can now place orders from anywhere on the resort, giving them the on-demand service they want without interrupting their day. GoTab empowers us to give control to the guest, reducing touch points and streamlining overall restaurant operations, making Limelight Hotel the resort of choice for Snowmass.”Nick Giglio, Manager of Hotel IT Operations, The Little Nell Hotel Group

Since introducing GoTab, The Limelight Hotel has seen a consistent level of upsells and items sold per check resulting in additional revenue capture. They have been able to maintain service levels in their restaurants during periods when there was reduced staffing available without significantly diminishing the guest experience.
