At EventCamp, GoTab CEO Tim McLaughlin joined leaders from Tripleseat, PeopleVine, and Mews to address a question many operators ask: why not build everything in one platform? The group agreed that the smartest approach isn’t trying to do it all — it’s about being exceptional in your core strength and integrating seamlessly with other best-in-class tools. In hospitality tech, true innovation comes from collaboration, not consolidation.
Australia’s hospitality scene is dynamic, diverse, and rapidly innovating — and when it comes to events, the stakes (and expectations) are higher than ever. From waterfront weddings to corporate retreats and private dining experiences, operators across the country are investing in technology and guest-first solutions to deliver flawless, memorable gatherings.
This week, we’re sharing how we are bringing that same spirit of collaboration to Australia—where trust, innovation, and partnership are driving incredible growth. You’ll hear from Nathan Merriman, our General Manager for Australia, along with insights from Tripleseat, Beer30, and the team at 98 Lygon Street—each showing how trust and teamwork are shaping a new era of hospitality Down Under. When we first launched in Australia earlier this year, we knew we’d find creative, guest-focused operators who shared our vision. What we didn’t expect was how quickly the momentum would build. In just six months, GoTab is powering some of the country’s most dynamic venues and partners, helping redefine how hospitality connects great food, beverage, and tech.
When Nathan Merriman got the call that would change the trajectory of his career, he wasn’t behind a desk or in a boardroom. He was at home, feeding his young son from an armchair. “I was mid-bottle when the message came through,” Merriman recalled with a laugh. “I remember thinking, I’ve got to take this meeting.” That message came from GoTab CEO and founder Tim McLaughlin. Within days, Merriman met with him in Melbourne to learn more about the company’s growing presence in Australia. “We just clicked,” Merriman said. “It was meant to be a quick meeting, but we ended up walking to his next one just to keep the conversation going.”
In the latest episode of Behind the Tab, GoTab’s Director of Product Enablement, Adam Howe, sat down with Pulkit Agrawal, Founder and CEO of The Fifth Ingredient (makers of Beer30), and Tim McLaughlin, Co-Founder and CEO of GoTab, for a deep-dive conversation on entrepreneurship, adaptation, and the evolution of brewery technology. From Virginia to Brisbane, both leaders have built companies shaped by the same foundational principle — that data, when shared and acted upon, can transform hospitality operations worldwide.
When it comes to kitchen operations, efficiency is everything. Whether you’re running an upscale fine dining venue, or a standard brewery kitchen operation, the difference between chaos and flow often comes down to one tool: your Kitchen Display System (KDS). In 2025, the KDS has evolved far beyond a simple ticket screen. It’s now a central nervous system for connected, data-driven operations.
